El Paso Sector Border Patrol honors fallen agents.

Remembering Fallen Border Patrol Agents

EL PASO, TEXAS -- A moving memorial ceremony was held today at the National Border Patrol Museum, honoring the brave U.S. Border Patrol agents who made the ultimate sacrifice protecting our nation. The event, attended by U.S. Border Patrol El Paso Sector Interim Chief Patrol Agent Walter N. Slosar and other dignitaries, paid tribute to these heroes and offered solace to their families.

"Today's memorial serves as a poignant reminder of the unwavering commitment and selfless sacrifice of our fallen agents," said Interim Chief Patrol Agent Slosar. "Their heroism and dedication to safeguarding our nation's borders will never be forgotten."

Since its establishment on May 28, 1924, 159 U.S. Border Patrol agents have lost their lives in the line of duty. Their names were solemnly read aloud during the ceremony, each followed by the tolling of a bell and a 21-gun salute. A U.S. Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations helicopter flyover and a moving riderless horse tribute further honored their memory. The ceremony concluded with the El Paso Sector’s Border Patrol Honor Guard’s retirement of the colors.

This annual memorial, held near the anniversary of the U.S. Border Patrol's founding, is particularly significant in El Paso, home to the agency's first station.
